Connection is Key

It was a year ago almost to the day, that I started working at Pen & Mug. So I’ve been reflecting on just how much I’ve grown this past year. As a designer, as a teammate, and as a person. I’ve learned new tools, built better habits, taken on new challenges, but what keeps standing out most in my mind is how it all started: by simply reaching out. Wanting to connect with Pen & Mug all those months ago eventually led to me working here. Reaching out to people, even when it felt a little intimidating, has led to some of my closest friendships, most exciting opportunities, and opened my eyes to many new perspectives.

I think one of the most important things in life is connection. If there’s someone doing the kind of work you admire, working with the clients you dream of, or living out the career you want, say something. Introduce yourself, ask questions, and express your genuine interest. Not every message will turn into something big for you, but some just might change your path in life.
