The voice of a region
Appalachian Voices
When the Appalachian Voices team first reached out to us, their website was outdated and causing stress in more ways than one. The front-end design had not been updated in many years, and was in need of a total refresh. The back-end was in similar shape – the site was hosted on an outdated version of WordPress and MySQL, and due to some proprietary custom code it was impossible to update without breaking the entire website. The site was also painful for their team to manage, forcing the staff (journalists and operations professionals) to get into the code and edit HTML each time they added a post or a page.
Fixing these issues can be a daunting task for any website, especially for one as massive as AppVoices. At the start of this project the site had over 670 pages and nearly 6,500 posts.
Challenge accepted.
We worked closely with the AppVoices leadership team to reimagine, redesign and rebuild AppVoices.com from the ground up, optimizing each and every detail in the process. The new website offers a more visually appealing and user-friendly front-end experience, created top-to-bottom with modern tools that make it vastly easier for their large team to manage.
